Some people think that the names of currencies are capitalised.  Why is this?  Probably because they often sound like proper nouns: [[franc]], for example, or [[mark]]. Of course those two have now ([[franc|almost]]) vacated the scene in favour of the equally capitalised-sounding [[euro]].
