Thank goodness for hand surgeons! (Cut tendon, stitches underneath)
Lime green! Typing is easier, but still not great.
  • (06/22) The stitches came out on the 29th, and I began physical therapy soon after. It still looked rather nasty so I did not take a photograph. The scar is almost done forming. Unfortunately because they were "huge" stitches and I think due to the fact that I had stitches twice in the same holes, I now have what can only be represented as a ":|:" pattern on my thumb along the scar. A close inspection yields the stitch holes along the cut. There's not as much as swelling as there was, however there is still a fair amount below the top knuckle of the thumb and I can bend it a fair amount. --Robert W King 08:12, 22 June 2008 (CDT)
  • The stitches cannot come out soon enough! (5/24). My appointment is on the 29th and my thumb feels like it should be practically battling to get out of the splint. I can't wait to start physical therapy. --Robert W King 20:02, 24 May 2008 (CDT)
  • Visited the hand surgeon today(05/15). Updated split on thumb; received more information on proceedure. The finger looks "great", however the inside heals much slower than the outside so skin appearance is unreliable. Turns out there are three sets of permanent stitches holding my tendon together, which will be inside my thumb forever and may or may not appear on x-rays. I'd like to make a note that this is my first injury where the replacement involved something permanent and foreign inside my body (aside from a dental filling or two). See photo. Surface stitches come out on the 29th of May and will begin physical therapy then. --Robert W King 00:42, 16 May 2008 (CDT)
  • I am currently somewhat incapicated. See photo Delays in my correspondence are to be expected. Typing does not go well. Template:Codefrown
  • Please be aware: I am no longer using IE6--I am now a "firefox switcher". (until IE8 anyway) Do not ask me to debug pages for IE6! I simply do not care. --Robert W King 12:04, 6 May 2008 (CDT)

About me

Quack!

Robert - Introduced to England by the Normans, Robert is derived from the Old High German Hruodperht, a compound name composed of the elements hruod (fame) and perht (bright). The name was borne by Robert I (d. 1035), Duke of Normandy and father of William the Conqueror, and by three kings of Scotland.

William - From the Old Norman French Willaume which is from the Old High German Willehelm (Resolute protector). The name is composed of the elements willeo (will, determination) and helm (helmet, protection).

I am a young man working in the field of Information Assurance, and living somewhere in Northern Virginia. I hold an Associate's in Information Technology from NVCC and am working (infrequently) on my B.S. in Information Technology from George Mason University. My interests include data organization, networks, philosophy, critical thinking, and observation.

My background is in Network Security, Programming, and Technical Support; all things tech. I have worked for the US Navy, the Army, and other institutions. A number of my projects have included data organization, automation, and collection. Lately I have taken a strong interest in global politics and monetary policy, and in making things(fabrication). I have a great desire to acheive something great for mankind.

In the past I have contributed to U.S. Government articles within Wikipedia, and reported on the Wired-sponsored Assignment Zero.

I have written three blog posts on NewAssignment.Net

Books I have read or am currently reading:

  • The Fountainhead - Ayn Rand (cmplt.)
  • Status Anxiety - Alain De Botton (cmplt.)
  • Stiff - Mary Roach (cmplt.)
  • Talk to the Hand - Lynne Truss (cmplt.)
  • The Use and Abuse of Art - Jacques Barzun (un-r)
  • The World is Flat 3.0 - (un-r)
  • The Tipping Point - Malcolm Gladwell (mostly-r)
  • Supercapitalism - Robert B. Reich (mostly-r)
  • The Joke's Over: Ralph Steadman on Hunter S. Thompson - Ralph Steadman (apprx. 1/2)

Projects on CZ

  • CZ:Proposals, a community portal created in order to enable citizens to make suggestions that impact the wiki
  • CZ's Core Article Initiative: CZ:CORE
  • CZ's recruiting initiative: CZ:Recruitment. I created a one-sheet black and white recruitment flyer to be distributed (primarly) on college campuses, community bulletin boards, and other open public posting areas. It can be found here. Instructions are enclosed.
  • Hat article image request initiative: If you have one of many different types of hats, and have a picture of you wearing it, please submit it to the articlespace! This article would do greatly with a large number of hat images. --Robert W King 20:49, 18 October 2007 (CDT)

Philosophies

Neutrality

There are three properties that I believe should be adhered to in the context of this project when it comes to non-philosophical topics: fact, relevancy, and neutrality.

  • Fact: Everything that pertains to a particular subject should not be made up or speculated on. There should be no lies and no conjecture. I believe in trails, audits, and observations. That which is shown to be absolutely provable.
  • Relevancy: There will always be a percentage of information which points to a demonstratable conclusion. Only the upmost definitive evidence that shows A leads to B should be included.
  • Neutrality: Every viewpoint should be shown, and substantiated with credible sources. Credibile does not mean "existing", "popular", or "notable"; but rather those sources that are known to exhibit only the observable and objective truth and not an agenda or bias. Documentation is a must.

It is the reponsibility for everyone who wishes to further the knowledge and education of the masses to provide the basis for others to make their own decisions. One should be "informative" and not "convincing" when it comes to the essential elements of knowledge.
