Procrustes [r]: From Greek mythology, he was one of the brigands whom the Athenian hero Theseus killed on his way home from Troezen to Athens. He was famous for his bed which he made every traveler fit, according to Elizabeth Vandiver, Classics scholar and authority on Greek mythology and Greek tragedy including the Iliad, Odyssey, Aeneid, Homer, and Virgil. This definition is based on her course Classical Mythology from The Teaching Company.
