==Project Description==

This [[CZ:Eduzendium|Eduzendium]] project is the first of four components of a multi-genre research and writing project (described in full [http://www.ilstu.edu/~sgelbma/igrp.pdf here]). In addition to writing encyclopedia articles about individual interest groups, POL 214 students will write opinion essays that use their peers' encyclopedia articles as a research springboard, letters to the editor that respond to their peers' opinion essays, and compositions that reflect on their research and writing process. Grant funding to develop this project was provided by the [http://www.ctlt.ilstu.edu/ Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology] at Illinois State University.

==What We'll Be Working On==
The following is a list of articles that the members of POL 214 will be working on during the Summer II 2010 semester (July and early August). These articles will be closed to editing by other citizens until after the conclusion of the course, though we'd appreciate hearing any comments or suggestions you might have on their respective talk pages.

For each of the articles you plan to have your students work on, please add a line of the form <nowiki>{{r_EZ|Title of your course's article 1}}</nowiki>, which will display as
[[Category:Eduzendium|Special]]
{{r_EZ|Title of your course's article 1}}

{{r_EZ|Title of your course's article 2}}
{{r_EZ|Title of your course's article 3}}
{{r_EZ|Title of your course's article 4}}
etc.

Once the articles have been created, they will be listed here in the following formatting:

    (Group 2)
  • Stub Distributed version control [r]: Newer revision control systems for some of the most important open source projects (e.g., the Linux kernel, Qt, Ruby on Rails). [e]
    (Group 5)

    (Group 8)
  • Developing Article Recommendation system [r]: A software program which attempts to narrow down selections for users based on their expressed preferences, past behavior, or other data which can be mined about the user. [e]
    (Group 2)
  • Developing Article Semantic web [r]: Tim Berners-Lee's concept of a "web of knowledge", whereby web-based document contents would be annotated and classified so that computers can parse the classifications and provide search results based on the semantic information (what the content means), rather than simply on matching of text strings. [e]
    (Group 9)
  • Stub Virtual server [r]: Instances of server software hosted simultaneously on a single computer along with other instances of the same, or different, server operating systems. [e]
