The furlong is a unit of length in the Imperial system of measurement. It is largely unused in official circles, although it continues to be used in horse racing. It is sometimes used in the United Kingdom to describe distances between 200 yards and one mile. A furlong is equal to 220 yards, or 1/8 of a mile.


The furlong is equal to:

220 yards, 660 feet, 1/8 mile or 10 chains.

A furlong is 201.168 metres (exact), roughly 200 m or 0.2 km.
