Emma Green, a southern belle, volunteered as a nurse during the American Civil War.

Emma Green, a southern belle, volunteered as a nurse when the Union seized her family's hotel to serve as a hospital, during the American Civil War.[1]

Prior to the Civil War Green attended the exclusive Wentworth Seminary for Young Ladies.[2]

In 2016 the PBS series Masterpiece Theatre broadcast a six part series based on the hospital in the Green family hotel.[1][3][4]

The historical Emma Green was also the sweetheart of Benjamin Franklin (Frank) Stringfellow, a Confederate spy.[1] The couple wed, after the war.
