I am a Russian-born New Zealander (and I speak both languages fluently). I have completed a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Computer Science and Pure Mathematics, at the University of Auckland. I plan to work on Bachelor of Science with Honours in Computer Science at the same university starting next year. I have worked on several paid projects relating to my study. I am interested in a wide range of areas in Computer Science, as well as historical topics, especially those relating to the Soviet Union and Classical Greece.

Taking a step back: I'm taking a step back from the project to see how it will develop before I make any further major contributions. My biggest concern is that there might not be a future here. There are only a handful of active editors here, and now instead of improving on Wikipedia's articles we are trying to re-write a whole Encyclopaedia which took Wikipedia 6 years with millions of contributors (and not quite starting from scratch either - reusing content from Nupedia and Encyclopaedia Britannica 1911). While I would not mind contributing here if I would see my changes eventually carry on to Wikipedia (which is what most people will read for quite some time to come) - but I am starting to think they would reject any major rewrites, even if only out of pride.--Konstantin Tchernov 14:43, 21 January 2007 (CST)

Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, our help system and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via Twitter. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forum is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any administrator for help, too. Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! --Larry Sanger 14:01, 19 November 2006 (CST)
