Gifu prefecture (岐阜県 Gifu-ken) is an area of Japan located in the Chubu region of Honshu island. Its population was 2,105,000 in 2006.[1]

Gifu prefecture shares its name with its own capital city, Gifu (岐阜市 Gifu-shi).
