 Also called simply the Rural Health Care Coalition (RHCC), the Congressional Rural Health Care Coalition is a member support organization of the U.S. House of Representatives. It is co-chaired by Rep. Earl Pomeroy (D-ND) and Congressman Greg Walden (R-OR). Among its accomplishmens are creating the Office of Rural Health Policy within the Department of Health and Human Services,[[establishing the Rural Health Transition Grant Program, and forming the Critical Access Hospital program. To relieve the shortage of physicians in underserved areas, it has worked to continue the J1 visa program. Methods of delivering health care to remote areas, such as telemedicine, are within its area of interest. |
