Shoutbox

Shoud be good create a shoutbox with the constellations to put in each article that they appeared. L'Astorina 16:14, 25 November 2007 (CST)

I made a simple one. L'Astorina 16:39, 25 November 2007 (CST)

Constellation names

Whoever set up this series of articles didn't think too much about the future, clearly. Didn't they wonder if other articles might want the names Indus, Crater, Perseus (and all the other Greek gods/godesses/etc), Lynx, Sculptor, etc, etc? )If I'm coming across as slighlty cranky, I am, because now we're in for a ton of work, moving them all to "{Foo} (constellation)", all of which could have been avoid with a little cogitation. J. Noel Chiappa 11:27, 19 May 2008 (CDT)

Some of the names also don't exactly follow the IAU names, given here. Boötes, Camelopardalis, Canis Major, Ursa Major were wrong (although the latter two had been partially fixed). J. Noel Chiappa 12:17, 19 May 2008 (CDT)

History

Seems to be incomplete:

  • Ptolemy 48
  • Beyer 13
  • Hevelius 10
  • Lacaille 14

Total 85. That leaves 3 unaccounted for, 2 of which are covered by the splitting of Argo into 3 (not mentioned). Peter Jackson 18:27, 11 December 2008 (UTC)
