Thorsten Alteholz has removed much of the data, as it had been copied from the SEDS website, apparently in violation of their copyright. Unfortunately, this pretty much is the correct thing to do. However, reading the [http://seds.org/messier/usage.html SEDS usage page], I believe that they would be favorably inclined to release the data we've removed under a CC-by-SA license, or other licensing which would be acceptable to use. If anyone has a contact with SEDS, I'd encourage them to make the inquiry; otherwise I may do so myself (I'll give this about a week). The alternative is to find if there is a source at NASA or the Naval Observatory for this data, which is public domain, and avoids the licensing issue. Data from SEDS
Thorsten Alteholz has removed much of the data, as it had been copied from the SEDS website, apparently in violation of their copyright. Unfortunately, this pretty much is the correct thing to do. However, reading the SEDS usage page, I believe that they would be favorably inclined to release the data we've removed under a CC-by-SA license, or other licensing which would be acceptable to use. If anyone has a contact with SEDS, I'd encourage them to make the inquiry; otherwise I may do so myself (I'll give this about a week). The alternative is to find if there is a source at NASA or the Naval Observatory for this data, which is public domain, and avoids the licensing issue. Anthony Argyriou 17:24, 6 January 2008 (CST)
