Bedford is a large town in central England and the county town of Bedfordshire, United Kingdom. It is situated approximately 60 miles north of London.
Geography
Bedford is built around the River Great Ouse, which flows to the town from The Wash at Kings Lynn. Adjacent to the town is the area known as the Marston Vale. There are plans to build a new canal from Bedford to nearby Milton Keynes.
Transport
Bedford is connected to the M1 Motorway and the A1 major road by way of the A421, and to nearby Northampton by the A428. It is the northern terminus of the Thameslink train service from Brighton and is located on the Midland Main Line. It is a short distance away from Luton, and there is a direct train service to London Luton Airport.
