Maryland is a state on the eastern coast of the United States of America. It is bordered on the south and west by Virginia; on the north by Pennsylvania, and on the east by Delaware.
Geographic Features
Maryland features a panhandle on its western side that juts into West Virginia. Additionally, it is bisected by the Chesapeake Bay. An approximately square section of southeastern Maryland was sectioned off to contribute to the districting of Washington D.C.. Maryland also shares the United States' eastern coastline of the Atlantic Ocean.
History of Maryland
On 28 April 1788, Maryland became the seventh state to ratify the U.S. Constitution.
