Hello, I'm Steven, a freshman at the [[University of South Carolina]].  I have lived in both [[South Carolina]] and [[Virginia]]. My major is history, and I plan to eventually get a PhD and become a professor. My interests include history (especially Middle Eastern and European), politics (especially international relations), world cultures, and foreign languages. I have some knowledge of Spanish, but am nowhere near fluent in it. I plan to study [[French]] and [[Arabic]]. My politics are very to the left-I most identify with Socialists, and wish the United States had a credible Socialist party (as opposed to the one we have now, which is a joke). In the Mideast, I tend to be moderately pro-Palestinian, and favor I Binational solution to the Arab-Israeli conflict. I am against the war in Iraq, and do not support partition as a solution to Iraq's ethnic problems.

My primary interest is history, particularly of Europe and the Middle East. I also know some about the history of my home state, though by no means am I an expert in it.

Right now, I'm focusing on writing articles about the Middle East.
Politically, I'm generally center-left. I can read the Arabic alphabet and know a few words of Arabic and Persian. At various points in high school and college, I've taken classes in Arabic, Spanish, French, and German.
