Ecma International (ECMA) is a standards organization for information communication technology and consumer electronics. It was formerly called the European Computer Manufacturers Association (ECMA). Among other important standards, it is the source for ECMAScript, a scripting language whose best-known dialect is JavaScript and is used in web browsers the world over.
