The term radar is an acronym not a contraction. A contraction is the shortening of two words such as do not (don't) could not (couldn't) or can not (can't). An acronym is the use of the initials to form a description of the word. Radar, SNAFU (don't ask for that explanation) or SME (subject matter expert) are good examples of acroynms. Hope this helps. Radar is an acronym

The term radar is an acronym not a contraction. A contraction is the shortening of two words such as do not (don't) could not (couldn't) or can not (can't). An acronym is the use of the initials to form a description of the word. Radar, SNAFU (don't ask for that explanation) or SME (subject matter expert) are good examples of acroynms. Hope this helps.
