Corrected acronym
I'm back after answering the phone but to officially note I corrected and referenced the term RADAR. Mary Ash 20:20, 11 January 2011 (UTC)
Radar is an acronym
The term radar is an acronym not a contraction. A contraction is the shortening of two words such as do not (don't) could not (couldn't) or can not (can't). An acronym is the use of the initials to form a description of the word. Radar, SNAFU (don't ask for that explanation) or SME (subject matter expert) are good examples of acroynms. Hope this helps.
