Welcome to the Citizendium! We hope you will contribute boldly and well. Here are pointers for a quick start. You'll probably want to know how to get started as an author. Just look at CZ:Getting Started for other helpful "startup" links, and CZ:Home for the top menu of community pages. Be sure to stay abreast of events via the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list (do join!) and the blog. Please also join the workgroup mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and have fun! Roger Lohmann 16:07, 12 April 2008 (CDT)

rap and hip hop

Hey Raphael-- I was just looking at your article Rap and hip hop, and Aleta pointed out that it reduplicates a lot of the information on the Hip-hop article. Nevertheless, there's a lot of good information on your article, and we should try to incorporate the information from your page in the straight Hip-hop page.

Another thought that I had was that we might want to have an article on the umbrella term "Hip-hop" (which much of the information from your article fits), and split our discussion of different forms of hip-hop culture up. We could have a page on DJing, a separate page on MCing, and so on. I like the thought of splitting up our articles-- I think it would allow each article to become more specialized-- but am not 100% sure whether splitting DJing from MCing, in particular, makes sense. You're more of an expert than I am-- what's your sense? Oh, and by the way, welcome to Citizendium! I've liked a lot of the articles you've written. Brian P. Long 20:20, 22 April 2008 (CDT)

Hi Brian, thanks for writing to me and discussing my article. I think it is a good idea to merge my information either into the Hip Hop article or to create new sub-articles (such as DJing, etc....). I will be away until Thursday evening and will do it on Friday. Thanks again. P.S. By the way, I went to your very impressive UserTalk page, looks great! Raphael :Raphael D. Thöne 23. April 2008.
