Peter, I am just a little troubled by your referendum number three. It seems to me that the possibility exists that ultimately a managing editor might gain the full control of Citizendium governance. Depending on who is the managing editor, he or she might be a benign dictator or one not so benign , or he or she might be an active governor or one not so active.

I am also troubled by the possibility that another election may not achieve the goal of filling the vacancies you speak of. What do we do then?

Undoubtedly you are aware of the Council initiated referendum that provides emergency procedures. It seems to me that that referendum avoids the two problems troubling me. What do you think? Anthony.Sebastian 20:42, 7 June 2014 (UTC)

The ME would only exercise full authority if there's no one else to do so. What's the alternative to that? No governance at all? (Maybe RW think that's a good idea.)

Is there any reason to suppose people would be willing to be appointed by the ME but not to stand for election? And, as I commented on the talk page for the Council proposal, it seems rather odd to respond to a shortage of candidates by increasing the size of the Council.

Peter, the managing editor would have full authority only if he or she could not recruit four volunteers. Surely a managing editor can accomplish that, even without bribery, guilt trips, etc. I doubt that the citizenry would want the managing editor to have full control of Citizendium governance. I would hope that you yourself would volunteer in that case, to keep a check on the activities of the managing editor. Anthony.Sebastian 21:00, 8 June 2014 (UTC)
