Sharon M. Raphael Ph.D., Professor Emeritus of Sociology, College of Health and Human Services, California State University Dominguez Hills, Carson, California. Former Coordinator of M.A. Program In Behavioral Science: Gerontology Option. 1979-2005); Co-Founder of The National Association for Lesbian and Gay Gerontology, Research Gatekeeper, Old Lesbians Organizing for Change (OLOC), present, Founding Member of Lesbian and Gay Interest Network (LGAIN) for the American Society on Aging. Faculty Director, Older Adult Center (81-present), Faculty Adviser, The Gay, Lesbian and Bisexual Student Union at CSUDH. Dr. Raphael teaches pioneering course titled Life Cycles of Lesbians and Gay Men and other Gay Studiescourses at CSUDH. She has published numerous articles and chapters on Lesbian and Gay aging and related topics. She is a consultant and founding member of (AHF) AIDS Hospice Foundation (83-85) now AIDS Health Care Foundation. As an activist and community organizer she helped to contribute to the founding or development of the following organizations in L.A. i.e. Gay Women's Service Center, (72) Gay Community Services Center (73) , (GLCSC), Sister Newpaper (74), Temple Beth Chaim Chadashim (73-74).
