I am 60 years old. Born in Roscoe, Texas. Graduated from Richardson High School in Richardson, Texas in 1965. Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from University of Texas in Austin in 1969. Doctor of Jurisprudence from University of Texas School of Law in 1971. Worked for Texas Governors Preston Smith and Dolph Briscoe in Austin, Texas from 1971 to 1973. Have practiced law in Harlingen, Texas since October, 1973 with a focus on civil litigation. Served as Mayor of Harlingen from 1981-1983. Have served as a member of the Development Board of the University of Texas at Brownsville for the last ten years including two years as Chairman. Married with three children. My interests, other than the legal profession, include politics, ethics, history, music (especially blues), and a wide range of other subjects. I have been active in community service projects for last 35 years including leading numerous economic development projects and the establishment of a regional upper level medical school in Harlingen, Texas.
