I earned my Ph.D in Control Engineering from Polytechnic University of Valencia (Spain) in 1999, M.S in Industrial Electronics Engineering from Polytechnic University of Madrid in 1994 and Master in Bioinformatics from Complutense University of Madrid in 2005. I have been an Assistant/Associate Professor at the Department of Systems and Control of the Polytechnic University of Valencia from 1994 until 2006. I am currently working as a Research Fellow at the Bioinformatics Division at Fujirebio Inc. Research Labs in Tokyo (Japan). I have been conducting research on complex network dynamics, intelligent systems, nonlinear control, bioinformatics and systems biology. This activity brought me in the past to several stays at prestigious research centers: Brooklyn Polytechnic University (USA), Swiss Institute of Bioinformatics (Geneva), German Cancer Research Center (Heidelberg), and Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

I have published 6 research papers in scientific journals, 2 technical books, and more than 25 communications to technical and scientific conferences. My main scientific contributions up to the date have been in the field of automatic control of nonlinear actuators, fuzzy estimation techniques, and the development of computational intelligence algorithms for an open-source bioinformatics project. I am currently interested in developing new prediction techniques and tools for the analysis of network models in systems biology.

I am interested in everything related with the Linux operating system, and I also find appealing to get involved in computer programming projects, to contribute to wikis, and to spend my leisure time reading, listening to classical music, learning Japanese and improving my piano skills.
