Degrees in mathematics: B.S. 1948, M.S. 1949 at University of Chicago; Ph.D at Princeton University 1954.

University positions: University of Wisconsin (in Madison), 1956-1958, Research Instructor. University of Michigan (in AnnArbor) 1958-1959. Yale University, 1956-1957, Statistics Department (Visiting Professor: 2 days/week), 1966-67(?).

Most of my career: Bell Telephone Laboratories, Murray Hill, NJ; 1959-1993 in the Mathematics Center in the Research Area.

Publications: Approximately 90 publications, mostly articles. Editor and contributor of a few books. The fields in which I published are mathematics, statistics, psychometrics, and linguistics.

My first few publications were signed as "Joseph Kruskal, Jr.", but subsequently I dropped the "Jr" . I am currently a Member Emeritus of the American Mathematical Society. I am a Fellow of the American Statistical Association. I am a former president of the Psychometric Society and of the Classification Society (of North America) [the latter phrase was recently dropped].
