I was born in Cheshire in the North West of England in the early 1980s. From age 11 to age 18 I attended a local comprehensive school. I studied A-level maths, further maths, physics, chemistry and general studies.

I was accepted for a four-year Master of Mathematics Degree (MMath) at the University of Warwick. In my third and fourth year I was Returning Officer of the University of Warwick Students' Union. My fourth year essay was on the Mathematics of Voting Systems.

Shortly after graduating I was elected a Council Member (legally a Company Director) of the Electoral Reform Society [2005-2007]. I have completed the Professional Stage of the ACA accounting qualification, administered by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

I co-founded STV Action a website (www.stvAction.org.uk) which campaigns for the introduction of a new voting system for General Elections in the United Kingdom.
