I am currently an undergraduate at Oberlin College in Ohio where I am majoring in environmental studies. I am interested in natural systems and applying systemic thinking and our knowledge of nature to who we, as humans, organize our society, economy, and knowledge. I am interested in wikis as they are a very organic way of developing, organizing, and spreading information. My hobbies include playing saxophone, swimming, playing ultimate, hiking, baking, and playing the SCRABBLE® Brand Crossword Game. I swam competitively from third to twelfth grade, shifting my focus towards ultimate in high school and giving up competitive swimming entirely in college to concentrate on ultimate. While in high school I was a staff member of the largest student run organization in Washington State, an outdoor education program called Post 84, since changed to simply Post. I spent over a decade of summers as a camper at a residential summer camp and have spent the last few as a summer camp counselor. During the summer of 2006 I was employed by the University of Washington at the Seattle NOAA facility working with NOAA employees to teach middle schoolers about marine and atmospheric science. In January 2006 I interned at Antioch University Seattle doing work for the Collaborative on Health and the Environment - Washington. At my college I am a resident assisstant and have been the bread baker in my dining cooperative for five semesters. I was the instructor of a for-credit towards graduation course on the competitive play of my favorite word game during the Spring 2007 semester. Having talked with the National SCRABBLE® Association, of which I am a member, it seems that my college is the only accredited institution to ever offer a for-credit course on the subject and that I am only the second instructor to teach one, the first course having been offered in 1988.
