I am Ben Franske, I have a variety of interests an professional experience ranging from network engineering and IT to technology education to theater (sound, lighting and video) control systems and local history.

My bachelor's degree is a B.S. in Telecommunications Systems from the University of Wisconsin Stout. This degree focused on network engineering. I graduated magna cum laude in December of 2004. As part of the degree I earned the Cisco CCNA, CCDA, CCNP and CCDP certifications. I also hold Cisco instructor , MCP and A+ certifications. In addition I have done IT consulting work for a variety of small to medium size companies and maintain an IT oriented informational website which has several popular articles. Special interests within the realm of IT include system integration, VoIP, network design and troubleshooting.

In July 2004 I was awarded a M.Ed. in the field of Business and Industry Education, with a specialization in Technology Education, from the University of Minnesota. During the course of obtaining that degree I was recognized by the Phi Kappa Phi honor society (similar in standing to Phi Beta Kappa but for public universities) and by the Educational Testing Service for excellence in my field. I am currently a Ph.D. student in Technology Education at the University of Minnesota and part of the National Center for Engineering and Technology Education, a NSF funded consortium of several universities and partners.
