The Tevatron was a circular particle collider built at Fermilab near Batavia, Illinois. It ran from 1987 to 2011 and provided enormous amounts of insight into the world around us. It has since been eclipsed by the LHC, a proton-proton collider at CERN on the border of Switzerland and France.
