I attempted to link the term "Mayan" to Maya, only to find that the term also refers to a computer graphics package. Well blow me down!

How do we go about the disambiguatisationism of this?

I noticed that a while back and tried to pretend it wasn't an issue. I think it's pretty clear that "Maya" refers to the people first and other stuff later, so the article Maya should probably be about the people (though Maya peoples would work too).
On the issue of "Maya" versus "Mayan", we may need to have a discussion. In academic contexts, "Mayan" generally refers to the ancient civilizations while "Maya" serves as an adjectival form for modern populations. This is not universal, however, and there is a lot of room for debate about our usage here. --Joe Quick 10:57, 21 August 2008 (CDT)
