In education, analytic reading involves breaking a text into its component parts, in order to understand its meaning and relate it to other texts. While critical to success in school, this skill is lacking in most students."[1]
The term is also used in Islamic jurisprudence, as part of the preparation of a fatwa.[2]
A variant term of art in intelligence analysis is analytic tradecraft.[3]
