The Edmonton LRT Valley Line will be the third rapid transit route in Edmonton using light rail vehicles.[1][2] Phase one of the route will run 13.1 km (8.14 mi) from a connection with the Edmonton Transit System's other two LRT routes, at Churchill Station, to Mill Woods and 102 Street. This first phase will have 11 stops. On November 25, 2015, Elise Stolte, of the Edmonton Journal, reported the winning bid to build phase one was for $1.8 billion CAD.
Bechtel was the lead partner of the consortium to build the route.[1][2] Bombardier Transportation was awarded $391 million to supply Flexity Freedom light rail vehicles.[2][1]
