Walden

Walden (full title: Walden; or, Life in the Woods), was a work by Henry David Thoreau, first published in 1854. Generally considered Thoreau's masterwork, the book was begun in the years when Thoreau was living at Walden Pond, at which time he produced a first draft. This version would later be significantly revised and expanded prior to its initial publication in 1854 in a press run of some 2000 copies.
