Welcome, new editor! We're very glad you've joined us. Here are pointers for a quick start. Also, when you get a chance, please read The Editor Role. You can look at Getting Started for other helpful introductory pages. It is essential for you as an editor to join the Citizendium-Editors (broadcast) mailing list in order to stay abreast of editor-related issues, as well as the mailing list(s) that concern your particular interests. It is also important, for project-wide matters, to join the Citizendium-L (broadcast) mailing list. You can test out editing in the sandbox if you'd like. If you need help to get going, the forums is one option. That's also where we discuss policy and proposals. You can ask any constable for help, too. Me, for instance! Just put a note on their "talk" page. Again, welcome and thank you! We appreciate your willingness to share your expertise, and we hope to see your edits on Recent changes soon. David E. You now have a personal sandbox

As a fellow engineer, I want to offer you a warm welcome! Please click on ==> Category: Engineering Workgroup to see all of the engineering articles that we already have. If you need any help at any time, please contact me on my Talk page at here.

I have also taken the liberty of creating a personal sandbox page for you. To access your sandbox, just click on the blue link labeled My sandbox in the upper, left-hand corner of your User page. Once you get there, you can click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the page and you can:

  • Practice writing articles in the Wiki markup language.
  • If you already know the Wiki markup language, you can draft any articles you want to write and keep changing them until you are completely satisfied with them ... and then you can create a new article by cutting and pasting the sandbox article into the new one.
  • You can invite other Citizens to visit your sandbox, review a prospective article that you wrote in sandbox, and ask for their comments/critique before you proceed to cut and paste it into a new article.

Don't know what the Wiki markup language is? Click ==>CZ:How to edit an article    Another excellent way to learn the Wiki markup coding is to click on the "Edit" tab at the top of any article and see how the markup coding was used there.

Asking for comments on new article

Karl, I have just completed a new article about "Natural gas" in my sandbox. I would appreciate it if you were to review it and offer your comments on my sandbox Discussion page. My sandbox can be viewed by clicking ==> here where it will be for the next few days before I load it in as a regular article. Regards, Milton Beychok 23:01, 21 September 2009 (UTC)

Milton, I'd be pleased to do so.... Thanks. Karl D. Schubert 02:47, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
The article has now been published by moving it into the article namespace and it will be shortly removed from my sandbox. You can now offer your comments at Natural gas. Regards, Milton Beychok 22:32, 22 September 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for your comments and I have responded as well as implemented some of your suggestions. See the article's Talk page. Regards, Milton Beychok 16:19, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
You're welcomed, Milt. And, thank you for your responses. Karl D. Schubert 18:07, 27 September 2009 (UTC)

Just completed an article on petroleum crude oil

Karl, I just finished an article on petroleum crude oil in my sandbox at User:Milton Beychok/Sandbox. Feel free to comment on its Talk page. I have not yet run it through a spell checker, so there are probably spelling errors. I will probably load it into the article namespace tomorrow afternoon/evening. Milton Beychok 08:58, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Milt! I'll give it a read. Karl D. Schubert 01:49, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Now that you've gotten your feet wet

Karl, now that you've gotten your feet wet by reviewing and commenting upon some articles, how about jumping in and writing some article of your own? You might also introduce yourself to Howard Berkowitz. I think that you and he may have a lot of common expertise and interests. Regards, Milton Beychok 18:28, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Yes...I've been giving some thought to that, Milt (the writing). I'm just about to start some writing for some other reasons so I'm about to go into a heavy authoring period. I suspect, too, that the hardest thing to decide is what to write on first. Re Howard -- great I'll do so. Thanks! Karl D. Schubert 23:01, 7 October 2009 (UTC)

Asking for help with Thermodynamics

I think Thermodynamics was originally a port from WP, but not sure. It would be most useful if we could get it to the approval stage. Would you *please* review it and revise it as necessary? Does it need a section on non-equilibrium thermodynamics?

Also, Thermodynamics has links to Laws of thermodynamics ... but when I go to Laws of Thermodynamics, I find it to be an almost useless stub of an article. Is the much better "Laws of thermodynamics" section of Thermodynamics inclusive enough for me to ask for speedy deletion of the useless Laws of thermodynamics stub?

Please respond on Talk:Thermodynamics. Milton Beychok 19:27, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

Karl, just a gentle repeat of my request that you review the Thermodynamics article, please. Also, I crossed out the second part of my above post in this thread, because I have now taken care of that item as suggested by Daniel Mietchen on the Talk:Thermodynamics. Regards, Milton Beychok 21:49, 24 October 2009 (UTC)

Hi, Karl. Haven't heard from you in quite a while.

I fervently hope that you have not changed your mind about becoming more active ... and creating some new articles. If you need any help, please let me know. Milton Beychok 03:16, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
