Hello, my name is Sam Trenholme and I am an English teacher in México. I am both teaching English and learning Spanish, and having a lot of fun (but am working really hard). I have worked professionally in the computer industry for fives years, and am an Open source developer and advocate. I believe that technology is a means to an end, and not an end in and of itself. The telephone makes talking to someone who is far away possible, but is not a substitute for face-to-face contact. The internet makes meeting new people, and obtaining information without going to a library possible, but again, does not replace human interaction.

I feel that we are in a global economy, and have a great interest in foreign cultures and foreign languages. I have lived in Mexico for four months to improve my Spanish and to make Spanish-speaking friends. My experience there gave me a appreciation about what is universal about human nature across languages and cultures.
