Markus received his diploma (similar to master) in computer science from RWTH Aachen in 1994 (specialization: databases; supplementary topic: economics) and his Dr.rer.nat. (now what might that be) in 2000. He is now investigating distributed system and reliable communication at the Philips Research Laboratory in Aachen.
