I was born in London in 1979 and brought up there and (from 1987) in Wales.

I studied mathematics at Imperial College, London, obtaining a Master in Science degree, and then at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, where I obtained a PhD (actually it's Doctor Rerum Naturalium but let's not get into that....) in physics. With all my nice lettery things I am, in full business-card style,

Joseph Rushton Wakeling MSci ARCS Dr Rer Nat

My research work focuses on neural networks and learning, econophysics and complex systems in general, and you can read about it in detail on my website at http://sci.webdrake.net/. I contribute to that other website under the name WebDrake.

What I'm working on

Science

Fun stuff

  • Fighting Fantasy — aaahhhh, the sins of childhood. Mature adult excuse (*cough!!*): it gives me a chance to mess about with wiki technical stuff and see how it all works, because no one will care if I break a load of stuff on the way to turning this stuff into nice Citizendium articles.
