John Pierce received his BA in Anthropology in 2003 from the University of Nevada, Reno, where he is currently a teaching assistant and pursuing his Masters in anthropology. While interested in all fields of anthropology, he has specialized in linguistic anthropology, with a geographic focus on South and Central Asia. His thesis will focus on language ideology and the relationship between language and ethnic identity in Pakistan. Broader interests include theoretical linguistics, psychology, animal behavior, religion, art, music, literature and the areas in which these fields overlap.
