Dr. John Thompson is an Associate Professor at Buffalo State College where he coordinates the graduate Educational Computing graduate program - http://www.buffalostate.edu/depts/edcomputing/ <http://www.buffalostate.edu/depts/edcomputing/> . He also operates his own educational consulting business, Global Learning Institute, Inc. Dr. Thompson teaches nearly all his graduate courses 100% online, having taught close to 70 online courses. His current research interests include asynchronous online discussions, Web 2.0, and 1:1 computer initiatives. Major current events include chairing educational technology conferences with his graduate students. Earlier in 2007, he chaired the inaugural Educational Technology Research Symposium for the Texas Computer Education Association - http://www.tcea.org/symposium/ <http://www.tcea.org/symposium/> . His previous career experience prior to working in higher education on a full-time basis included working in K-12 schools as a teacher and administrator (including school superintendent), functioning as director of training for two state governments, and directing a university-based computer training organization. Dr. Thompson's PhD in Education Administration researched connections between adult education principles and writers of computer documentation.
