I am a linguist specialising in acquisition of second language [[phonology]] and [[comprehension approach|comprehension-based language learning]]. Following a BA in [[linguistics]] (Manchester) and an MA in [[language acquisition]] (Durham), I lectured part-time at the universities of York and Durham in the [[United Kingdom|UK]]. Currently I teach linguistics and [[English language|English]] at [[Mie University]] in [[Japan]].

==Getting around and maintaining Citizendium==
I'm fairly familiar with Citizendium procedure as I was a '[[CZ:Constabulary_Home|constable]]' (administrator or 'sysop') from August to November 2007, prior to taking a break from the site. I make use of the workgroup boxes (see below) to navigate around Citizendium, as well as the links in the left menu. I recommend the 'toolbox', particularly '[[:Special:Specialpages|Special Pages]]'. This brings you to a list of things in much need of maintenance, such as [[:Special:Deadendpages|dead-end]] and [[:Special:Uncategorizedpages|uncategorized pages]]. I've found that people creating inappropriate articles can get their work on the wiki for some time by not categorising articles so they don't show up in workgroup lists and other CZ groupings, such as '[[:Category:Internal_Articles|internal articles]]'. However, note that [[CZ:Subpages|subpages]] end up listed there too - you might have to trawl through a lot of pages to find articles.
