Iolanda Pensa is an art critic, researcher and consultant. She is scientific director of WikiAfrica/Share Your Knowledge project and curator of Mobile A2K: Resources, Interfaces and Contents for Urban Transformations at lettera27 Foundation. She holds a Ph.D. in anthropology and in urban planning (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Science Sociale in Paris in collaboration with the Politecnico of Architecture in Milan with the thesis "The Dakar Biennale as a cooperation and development project" on the impact of grants on culture in Africa) and a university degree in art history (Catholic University in Milan with a thesis on the Dakar Biennale of contemporary African art). She accomplished research on cultural institutions and the impact of international grants on culture in Dakar, Cairo, Douala, Cape Town, Minsk, Tehran, Siberia, Far Eastern Russia, Europe and the US. She collaborated with the magazines "Domus" (correspondent for Africa since 2011), "Flash Art", "Africa e Mediterraneo", "Tema Celeste", "Nigrizia", "Artthrob". As a volunteer she is the coordinator of the Ecomuseo delle Grigne and the artistic director of the Associazione Amici del Museo delle Grigne in Esino Lario.
