George Garrigues is a retired journalist and journalism professor living in Frazier Park, California. He studied international relations at UCLA, has a bachelor’s degree in government from University of California, Riverside (1957), and a master of arts in journalism from the aforementioned UCLA (1970). He has been chair of mass communications programs at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut and at Lincoln University of Missouri in Jefferson City. His professional experience has been as a reporter and copy editor at the Los Angeles Times (12 years) and at smaller newspapers. He was a public information officer with the Division of Apprenticeship Standards and Department of Water Resources in California and the International Labour Organization in Geneva, Switzerland. He is the author of He Usually Lived With a Female: The Life of a California Newspaperman (ISBN 0-9634830-1-3) and Los Angeles’s The Palms Neighborhood (ISBN 978-0-7385-6993-2).
