Frederick O. Marsh (born 1925) businessman and international consultant. As pilot, air sports leader, innovator and aviation conservator has made valuable contributions to the world of aviation. His first non-fiction book was published in 2009.

Left East Hove Senior School, Hove, Sussex aged 14 in 1940. Started work as an apprentice for J Lyons & Co Ltd (Bakery Division) the national caterer and food manufacturer. Worked in their factories in Hove, Ipswich, Liverpool and Cadby Hall, London. Home Guard September 1943 to 1945. Volunteered for Army service in February 1945. Commissioned, Royal Berkshire Regiment July 1946. Stationed in Austria. At one stage responsible for custody of Field-Marshal Kesselring, General Eberhard von Mackensen and General Kurt Maeltzer after their death sentence following the Massacre at the Ardeatine Caves trial in Italy. Demobilised in 1948 with the rank of Captain.

Rejoined J Lyons as Management Trainee. Attended Liverpool College of Commerce and Regent Street Polytechnic, London, now University of Westminster www.wmin.ac.uk . Awarded - Diploma in Management Studies. During 1940 and 1950, member and later Chairman, South Kensington Young Conservative Association. Freeman of the City of London 1962. Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Butchers’ 1962. Member, Institute of Works Managers in 1960. Associate Member in 1960, Member in 1963 and subsequently Fellow of the British Institute of Management.

In 1963 resigned from J Lyons. Then a 12 months sabbatical. In 1963 purchased the Cambridge-based food company. Then Chairman & Managing Director of, Winton-Smith (Foods) Ltd. Subsequently bought another food company in North London. Combined them and then diversified the businesses into frozen foods. Exported food products to the Middle East. Sold the company in 1974.

In 1975 launched marketing consultancy Marsh Business Services (MBS) which carried out world-wide consultancy and market research projects. Clients included many European firms, companies and trans-national corporations. His last Frost & Sullivan Inc report was produced in Fall 1992: “The Market for Pet Products in Europe” Volume I & II. Gave key-note speeches presented report findings at seminars and conferences, worldwide. During the 1980’s and 1990’s diversified into writing on a range of marketing-related feature topics for more than 150 British and International trade publications.

Frederick Marsh, when aged 75, married in 2000.

1971 to 1989, Royal Aero Club Competition Committee, later Royal Aero Club Records, Racing & Rally Association. Founder Chairman – Formula Air Racing Association (FARA) 1972 – 1975. Council Member Royal Aero Club since 1975. 1976 - Architect of Royal Aero Club Pilot Proficiency Scheme, to encourage and develop airmanship and safety in the air. Chairman, Royal Aero Club 1995 – 1998. Vice-President, Royal Aero Club since 1998.

Initiator and Founder Chairman – Royal Aero Club Trust 1998 - 2007. President – Royal Aero Club Trust since 2007. The Royal Aero Club Trust was founded by him as a Charity to conserve and catalogue the unique collection of memorabilia (archives, albums, paintings, trophies and artefacts) of the Royal Aero Club; also to promote the development of young people through participation in air sports. www.royalaeroclubtrust.org

Vice-President – FAI (Fédération Aéronautique Internationale), the World Air Sports Federation 1982 - 1990. From 1982 to 1998 member of FAI Membership Expansion Committee (to encourage developing and other countries to participate in air sports). Was for a number of years President of this body. Companion of Honour - FAI (Federation Aeronautique Internationale) since 1998.

Initiator and Founder President – Europe Air Sports 1988 – 1995. President of Honour - Europe Air Sport, since 1995. Europe Air Sports was founded by him as the association to coordinate European regulatory matters on behalf of all National Aero Clubs of Member States of the European Union to ensure long-term continuity of sports and recreational aviation in Europe with appropriate amount of regulation and without unnecessary restrictions. www.europe-airsports.fai.org
