Introduction

I'm an independent writer and researcher living in Mountain View, California. I have a B.A. in Liberal Arts with a focus in Philosophy and Cognitive Science. I spent one year in graduate school at San Jose State University where I studied Geography and History. I have training and work experience in geographic information systems and continue to enjoy creating maps for various projects using open source GIS tools. I have over 15 years of experience as a web developer. I am researching and writing a book about epistemology and working on a botanically-related app. I have a blog at: ideaspeak.

I have been awarded two "barnstars" for my contributions to Wikipedia. I am the primary contributor to the article on "Encyclopedic knowledge" and a major contributor to the article on "Open educational resources." I find the online culture at Wikipedia to be toxic. I would like to work on articles for Citizendium relating to both of these topics as well as on various biographical entries.

I support Citizendium financially and want to see it grow and thrive.

June 2014 Election

I am excited to have been given a chance to serve a one-year term on the Citizendium Council as an Author Representative. It was eye-opening, however, to discover just how few of us actually participated in this election. We have work to do.

During my first term, I intend to work to increase participation on CZ and to encourage more contributors to vote next year. I'll have a page in my User space dedicated to my work in this capacity up soon. You might also read my 2014 Election statement.
