Third United States Army is currently the U.S. Army component of United States Central Command CENTCOM, called ARCENT. Formally, its headquarters are at Fort McPherson, Georgia and it has forward command elements in the CENTCOM theater of operations, the Middle East. CENTCOM Forward is in Qatar.
History
It went into operations following the Battle of Normandy, as a breakout and exploitation force under GEN George Patton.
