The Odd Couple is a 1965 Broadway play by Neil Simon. It tells the story of a couple of divorced men who decide to live together but drive each other crazy with their quirks. Oscar Madison is sloppy and Felix Ungar is a neat freak. The original cast of the play is Walter Matthau as Oscar and Art Carney as Felix.

The play was then adapted into a film in 1968, starring Matthau as Oscar and Jack Lemmon as Felix. From 1970 to 1975, it was also adapted into a television sitcom with Jack Klugman as Oscar and Tony Randall as Felix. Another television adaptation was made in 1982 with predominantly black actors, Demond Wilson playing Oscar and Ron Glass playing Felix. A sequel to the film was made in 1998, and was the last film where Matthau and Lemmon appeared together.
