He was taken hostage by [[Mujahideen]] from the [[Tehrik-i-Taliban]] on Monday February 11th, 2008, while traveling by road from [[Peshawar]], Pakistan to Afghanistan's nearby capital, [[Kabul]].
He is believed to have been kidnapped while traveling through Pakistan's [[Khyber Tribal Agency]], prior to passing through the border crossing at [[Towr Kham]].

Tariq Azizuddin (born 31 May 1951 in Peshawar) is a retired Pakistani ambassador to Turkey; he was previously Pakistan's ambassador to Afghanistan.
