The county of Sussex may have been the birthplace of cricket and it was certainly one of the sport's earliest centres of excellence. Teams representing Sussex were raised by many patrons through the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries until the foundation of Sussex County Cricket Club (Sussex CCC) in 1839. Sussex CCC is the oldest county club. Their home base is the County Cricket Ground, Hove.
