A definition or brief description of Social movement.

A large informal grouping of organizations and self-identifying persons focused on specific social or political issues, problems or questions. Examples include the abolition movement, first, second, third and fourth Great Awakenings, the Civil Rights Movement and a broad assortment of New Social Movements.
