Shinzo Abe (安倍晋三 Abe Shinzoo; born 21st September 1954) has since September 2012 been leader of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, the country's largest opposition party. It is the second time he has occupied the role, with the first occasion being when he also took office as Prime Minister of Japan from September 2006 until September 2007, when various factors including low approval ratings, the failure to pass an anti-terrorism law and ill health led him to quit.[1]
