Sežana is the capital of the Slovenian small region called Kras (Karst) in Slovenia. It is the cultural, economic and administrative center of Kras and Brkini, situated in western Slovenia, near the Italian border. The city is divided into several quarters: Center, Novo naselje, Gradišče, Na postaji, Lenivec, Vas, Terminal and Ograde.

Sežana is the seat of the administrative unit of Kras-Brkini.
