Scott Philip Brown (born September 12, 1959) is Republican Senator-elect from Massachusetts. He defeated Democrat Martha Coakley in a special election on January 19, 2010 to complete the remainder of the senate term of Senator Ted Kennedy who died in office in August 2009. Until his election to the US Senate, Brown has served almost three terms in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, three terms in the state Senate and served as a town selectman. Brown is a practicing attorney.
